Change
I urge our readers to be sure and read Carolyn Hagler’s column In His Grip in this issue. She shares some changes. Dr. Scott Carson’s comments in Southeastern College’s report cover changes. It seems that ‘change’ is a theme for our association this year.
I shared my intention to retire at our 2023 meeting and a search was begun by the Publications Department Trustee Board. They have worked diligently for this past year. Considerations have been made in many areas and they are recommending Bro. Scott Kirkland to the position of editor. Bro. Kirkland is currently pastor of Little Creek Baptist Church near Perkinston, Mississippi. He currently serves as a trustee of Southeastern Baptist College and on the BMAM Enrollment Committee.
More details will be shared at our annual meeting. Pray for Bro. Kirkland and the process as he stands as a nominee for editor and director of our Publications Department.
I personally am looking forward in my ministry and enjoying the work of Senior Adults and being a caring husband, father, grandfather, and yes…a great-grandfather.
Your prayers for this writer are solicited. May God bless the BMA of Mississippi, our Publications Department, all of the work of our state association.
A Plan Presented – Postage Taking a Toll
Have you noticed the continuing rise in postage? Every level of postage continues to increase along with the ever-increasing inflation that hits everyone in just about every area of life.
Some of our churches have only a few subscribers and their monthly bill is relatively small. When we mail their monthly statement, we spend 56 cents on each one and when the church mails us their payment they spend 73 cents for postage. That totals $1.29 per month. Some of our smaller churches only have a bill of up to $10.00 per month.
Regardless of the number of subscribers your church may have, paying quarterly or annually could save both of us a lot of money. The annual postage cost per church for monthly mailing is $15.48. If your church would like to change to a quarterly or annual billing, please let us know. We have several churches who do this, and it works very well. This would make your treasurer’s job a little easier.
We have several churches who know their monthly cost and they send in their payments a little early. This means we do not have to send them a statement unless their number of subscribers changes. This is efficient and helps us with costs. I hope other churches will consider some of these options. It would help each of us.
